It's too early to throw in the towel on trusts
Those income trusts in your portfolio are damaged goods, but don't give up on them just yet.
Even after a rally yesterday, trusts are worth a lot less than they were before the federal government hit them with a new tax that will take effect starting in 2011. This week's trust market debacle is perfectly understandable in light of how shocking Ottawa's announcement was, but it's not a definitive pronouncement on what trusts are now worth.
