What is the euro zone, and how does it differ from the European Union?The euro zone is the group of 16 countries that use the euro as currency. It is also called the euro area. The countries in it are Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia and Spain.
