Manulife deeper into the woods

Manulife Financial Corp. is raising its bet on trees, as Canada's largest insurer branches deeper into more diversified assets with a longer life span.Manulife's Hancock Timber Resource Group boosted its global timber portfolio yesterday with an agreement to pay $1.71-billion (U.S.) for 900,000 acres of forestland in Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas.
