Why Flaherty keeps the middle in mind

OTTAWA — Often on Fridays, Finance Minister Jim Flaherty hops the rapid-transit GO Train to work: a 45-minute ride from his Whitby, Ont., home to his regional office in Toronto. This middle-class commute is the fastest way to get to work — but it's also a good way to stay in touch with voters, who invariably sidle up to him to offer their two cents.
