Our Marianne has left us. Mourning her departure are her uncle Dr. Ivan Elkan and her cousins Yehuda and Tammy Schmidt of Washington, D.C., Zsuzsi and Ernoe Jakab of Budapest, and Sophia Lang of Calgary. Marianne survived her loving parents, Gabriella ElkanSchmidt and Sigmund Schmidt.

Marianne succumbed to a recently diagnosed malignant disease and its complications.

A graveside service was held on Monday, December 10, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at Beth Tzedec Memorial Park, 5822 Bathurst Street, Toronto. Memorial donations may be made to the Beit Halochem Canada, 905-695-0611.

October 24, 1944 November 16, 2018 Prominent Toronto Physician Mike is survived by his wife, Kathleen West; children, Tobias (Kelly) and Nora (Yakos Spiliotopolous); seven grandchildren; former spouse, Marcellina Mian; his stepsons, Charles and Samuel Steven; his brothers, Robert (Julia) and James; sister, Kathleen (Pat); two nieces and two nephews.

Mike earned his MD at McGill University, served in the US Air Force near Boston, did a Pediatric Residency and a Clinical Pharmacology Fellowship at Harvard, and later did an MBA at McMaster University. He was wellrespected nationally and internationally. In his daily work, he was Professor in Pediatrics and Pharmacology at the University of Toronto, Medical Director of the Ontario Poison Centre, and then served as Medical Director of the Long Island Poison Center near New York.

He was elected President of the Canadian Association of Poison Control Centres, was twice elected President of the American Academy of Clinical Toxicology and was editor-inchief of the international journal Clinical Toxicology.

He was highly regarded in the Aikido (martial arts) community and was an instructor at Aikido Tendokai in Toronto.


With deep sadness, the family announces the passing of our beautiful mother and grandmother, Luella Marian Orr, on December 9, 2018 at Credit Valley Hospital, Mississauga, Ontario at the age of 75 years.

Born in Fort William, Ontario on June 18, 1943 to Douglas and Mary Neely, Luella was predeceased by her parents and her beloved son, Michael. Luella was the adored wife of Winston Glen Orr, Q.C. for 51 years and was elated to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a family trip to their ancestral home in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland in July 2017. Luella will be forever missed by her daughters, Carolyn (Andrew) and Colleen.

Luella was a devoted grandmother to her four grandsons who brought her great joy every time she saw them, Aidan, William, Logan, and Carter.

Luella was a wonderful sister to George (Joan), Ian (Patricia); sister-in-law to Pauline (Ronald, deceased); and loving aunt to Larry (Jill), Brian (Janice), Paula (Chuck), Pamela, Tamara (Teddy) and Gregory (Kara).

After earning her RN from McKellar General Hospital in Fort William, Ontario and BNSc from Queens University in Kingston, Ontario, Luella acquired her MEd from Brock University in St.

Catharines, Ontario, and taught nursing at Seneca College in Toronto and King City for over thirty years, an occupation that she very much enjoyed.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Butler Chapel at 4933 Dundas St. West (between Kipling and Islington Aves.,) Etobicoke, on Wednesday, December 12 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.

Service to be held at Renforth Baptist Church, 627 Burnhamthorpe Rd., Etobicoke at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 13. Private family interment to be held in the spring of 2019 at Greenfield Cemetery, Arthur, Ontario. Luella cared for many treasured family pets during her lifetime and waged a courageous battle with cancer. September 20, 1937 December 2, 2018 Surrounded by family, Bob passed away peacefully and gently at Markham Stouffville Hospital, December 2, 2018. Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, Friend, Colleague, Teacher, and Coach.

Bob is survived by, and lives on in, his children, A. Robert T.

Pemberton (Lori A. Reeve) and Lori L. Tindall (Ted Tindall); his precious grandchildren, Megan M. Tindall (Spencer Scott) and Connor J. T. Pemberton; his brother, John T. Pemberton (Primrose Pemberton); sister, Deborah W. T. Law (Douglas Law); and their extended families. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Carol Joyce Pemberton (nee Norton).

Bob will be remembered for his curiosity, sharp mind, integrity, warped sense of humour, big heart and home full of hospitality by his Earl Haig mates, colleagues from Griffiths Laboratories, former staff and students at St. Andrew's Junior High School, neighbours, friends and adoring family.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to all the health care team members at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and Markham Stouffville Hospital for the tremendous care they provided over the past several weeks.

A celebration of Bob's life will be hosted by the family at DixonGarland Funeral Home, 166 Main Street North, Markham, on Friday, December 14th from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

to 9:00 p.m. Please bring your best memories and stories to share. After a period of healing, the family will hold a private interment ceremony. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.


nee van Steenburgh Born December 22, 1933, beloved wife of John R. Wiggins passed away peacefully at the age of 84 on Saturday December 8, 2018.

Cherished mother of Christopher, Sheralie and Lisa, grandmother of Michael, Joshua, Daniel, Taylor, Spencer, Emily and Jonathan.

She was predeceased by her parents, Walter Elgin and Lydia van Steenburgh; and brothers, Elgin and Walter.

Visitation will be held at Fawcett Funeral Home - Creemore Chapel, 182 Mill St., Creemore on Thursday, December 13, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place at St.

Luke's Anglican Church, 22 Caroline St. W., Creemore at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 14, 2018. In lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family.
