SNC-Lavalin Group Inc. is pleased to announce the appointments of Jean-Paul Vettier to the Board of Directors.
Jean-Paul Vettier is a recognized business leader in chemicals and petroleum in both Europe and North America.
He began his career in 1970 with Rhône-Poulenc where he held various positions of increasing responsibility leading to Deputy General Manager. In 1987, he joined Orkem as General Manager of the Petrochemical Division and as a member of the Executive Committee. In 1990, he joined TOTAL as Executive Vice-President, Refining & Marketing and was made a member of the Executive Committee. In 1993, he was named Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of TOTAL Refining & Marketing. In 2000, he was named Chairman and CEO of TOTAL Refining & Marketing following the mergers with Petrofina (Belgium) and Elf Aquitaine (France). He retired from this position in March of 2006, having reached the mandatory age.
Mr. Vettier was non-executive Chairman of TOTAL Petroleum North America between 1992-1996. He chaired Europia, the European Oil Industry Association between 1998-2004. He is a Board Member of the Institut Français du Pétrole and of Eiffage, a Knight of the French National Order of Merit and of the French Legion of Honour.
