Scotiabank is pleased to announce the appointment of John Varao to the position of President, CEO and Chief Investment Officer, Scotia Cassels. In his new position, Mr. Varao will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of growth strategies for Scotia Cassels Investment Counsel.

Mr. Varao has more than 16 years experience in asset management, successfully managing some of the largest mutual funds in Canada. Most recently, he was the Senior-Vice President of Canadian Equities at another Canadian bank. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from McMaster University and is a Chartered Financial Analyst. Mr. Varao enjoys his involvement with his sonís sports teams.
