Scotiabank is pleased to announce the appointment of Brian Porter to the position of Group Head, International Banking. In his new position, Brian will be responsible for overseeing all of the Bank’s international personal, small business and commercial banking operations in some 50 countries. He reports to President and Chief Executive Officer, Rick Waugh.

Brian joined Scotiabank in 1981, and has held progressively more senior roles in Scotia Capital, including Deputy Chairman. In 2005, Brian was named Executive Vice-President and Chief Risk Officer. Most recently, he was Group Head, Risk and Treasury, where he was responsible for overseeing the global management of credit, market and operational risk for the Bank. He was also responsible for the Treasury function and Corporate Development Office. Brian graduated from Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Commerce, and is also a graduate of the Advanced Management Program of Harvard Business School. He is past Chairman of the Investment Dealers Association of Canada, a Director of the Atlantic Salmon Federation and a member of the Faculty of Management Board of Advisors at Dalhousie University.
