John McBride,

Mr. John McBride has been named President of the Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC). The appointment was effective April 4, 2005. He will also serve on the Corporationís Board of Directors.

With a strong background in business strategy and policy, Mr. McBride will lead CCC in strengthening its commercial focus and building new export market opportunities and sales in support of the Government of Canadaís trade policy objectives.

Prior to this appointment, Mr. McBride served as Assistant Deputy Minister of the Operations Sector at Industry Canada. His public service career includes executive positions at several federal departments, including Finance, Treasury Board Secretariat, and Privy Council Office, as well as an assignment with the Australian federal government.

Mr. McBride graduated in 1984 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Carleton University in Ottawa.

CCC is a Crown corporation, wholly owned by the Government of Canada. Its mandate is to assist in the development of trade, which it does by signing and managing over $1 billion in export contracts annually and by providing services to Canadian exporters and foreign buyers.
