ROBERT CHEVRIER AND DAVID McAUSLAND APPOINTED TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF CASCADES INC.

Mr. Bernard Lemaire, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Cascades Inc. is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Robert Chevrier and Mr. David McAusland to the Board of Directors of the Company. These appointments were confirmed by the Board of Directors at a meeting held on February 26th. Mr. Chevrier and Mr. McAusland will be replacing long time contributors Mr. Simon L’Heureux and Mr. Paul Pelletier.

Mr. Chevrier is currently Director of the BMO Financial Group, CGI Group Inc., G.T.C. Transcontinental Group Ltd. and Richelieu Hardware Ltd. He is a an outstanding leader who particularly excelled as President and Chief Executive Officer of Westburne Inc., from 1993 until its purchase by Rexel Canada Inc. in 2000. He was formerly, among others, President and Chief Executive Officer of Uni- Sélect Inc., an auto-parts distributor, from 1983 to 1990. Mr. Chevrier is a chartered accountant by profession.

Mr. McAusland is Senior Vice-President, Mergers and Acquisitions and Chief Legal Officer, Alcan Inc.. He is also a Director of Cogeco Inc., Cogeco Cable Inc. and Montrusco Bolton Inc. A well-known member of the legal profession, Mr. McAusland is also a director involved in numerous community organisations.
