The Honourable Stockwell Day, Minister of International Trade and Minister for the Asia-Pacific Gateway, has announced the appointment of Robert C. Kay as the new Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC). Mr. Kay has been serving as a member of the Corporationís Board of Directors since December 2007.
Mr. Kay currently serves as a Corporate Director on the Boards of several corporations including private, public (TSX) and non-profit. Mr. Kay has spent more than thirty years in law and senior management working at the executive level, providing advice and counsel to both corporations and governments on international strategic commercial development. He also served as a Member and Adjudicator on the Ontario Municipal Board, a quasi-judicial body. Mr. Kay is a member of the Royal Canadian Military Institute and the National Association of Administrative Law Judges. He maintains his professional status as a member in good standing of the Bar of Ontario.
CCC is a federal Crown corporation, mandated to assist in the development of trade. It negotiates and manages over $1.8 billion in export contracts annually, mitigates risks for Canadian exporters in accessing markets abroad, and assists foreign government buyers to obtain goods and services from Canadian exporters. The Corporationís two core business lines are structured to support Canadian exporters contracting into the defence sector, primarily with the United States, and the infrastructure sector in emerging and developing markets. As a federal Crown corporation, CCC is able to offer exceptional access to foreign government business opportunities through its Prime Contractor and Advisory Services.
