Scotiabank is pleased to announce the appointment of Chris Hodgson to the new position of Group Head, Global Wealth Management. In his new position, Chris will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of global wealth management, insurance, and global transaction banking. He reports to President and Chief Executive Officer, Rick Waugh.
Prior to this appointment, Chris held the position of Group Head, Canadian Banking, for two years. He was named Executive Vice-President and Head of Domestic Personal Banking in March 2006, and previously served as Executive Vice-President, Wealth Management.
Chris has extensive experience in the wealth management business. He rejoined Scotiabank early in 2003 as Senior Managing Director, Wealth Management, following several years with Altamira Investments. Prior to that time, Chris spent 16 years with ScotiaMcLeod, where his last position was Managing Director, Private Client Financial Services.
Chris received his Bachelor of Arts from Dartmouth College in 1977, and completed a Securities Industry Institute program through the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania, in 1997.
He has been a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute since 1982, serves as Chair of the Board of Governors for the Canadian Investor Protection Fund, and most recently represented Scotiabank on the Executive Council of the Canadian Bankers Association. He is a Past Chair of both Providence Healthcare Board of Directors and Providence Healthcare Foundation, and remains a Director of the Foundation.
