Mrs. Paule Gauthier and Mr. Pierre Brunet were appointed members of the Board of Directors of METRO INC. at the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders of the Company. At the same meeting, the Directors elected Mr. Maurice Jodoin as Chairman of the Board.

Mr. Maurice Jodoin, C.F A., has been a member of the Board of Directors of METRO INC. since 1986. He also sits on the Executive Committee, the Human Resources and Ethics Committee and chairs the Corporate Governance Committee. A Commerce graduate of École des Hautes Études Commerciales (HEC), the Université de Montréal's business school, Mr. Jodoin also holds the title of Chartered Financial Analyst (C.F.A.) and served formerly as President of McNeil Mantha, President and Chief Executive Officer of General Trust and Vice-Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of General Trustco. Mr. Jodoin also sits on the Boards of several public companies and not-for-profit organizations.

Honourable Paule Gauthier, P.C., O.C., Q.C., is a Senior Partner with the Desjardins Ducharme Stein Monast law firm, an affiliate of Torys of Toronto and New York City. Admitted to the Québec Bar in 1967, Mrs. Gauthier is also a member of the Boards of Directors of the Royal Bank of Canada, Royal Trust Corporation and Rothmans Inc. and sits on the Advisory Committee of IBM Canada Ltd. She is a member of the International Bar, the International Union of Lawyers and Associate Member of the American Bar Association. She served as President of the Canadian Bar Association in 1992-1993. She was appointed to the Queen's Privy Council for Canada in 1984, named Queen's Counsel in 1988 and made an Officer of the Order of Canada in 1990.

Mr. Pierre Brunet, O.C., F.C.A., is Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of National Bank of Canada. He is former Chairman of the Board and President and Chief Executive Officer of Lévesque Beaubien Geoffrion and former Co-Chairman of the Board and Co-Chief Executive Officer of National Bank Financial. A Member of the Order of Chartered Accountants since 1964, he was named a Fellow (F.C.A.) in 1984. He spent his professional career with Samson Bélair, Morgan et Hudon and Lévesque Beaubien, where he served in a variety of senior management positions, including those of President and Chief Executive Officer.
