Scotiabank is pleased to announce the appointment of Peter Cardinal to the position of Executive Vice-President, Latin America. In his new position, Mr. Cardinal will be responsible for all of the Bank's operations in Latin America, and will be based in Toronto.

Mr. Cardinal has more than 38 years of experience at Scotiabank, having assumed increasing responsibilities in the areas of Retail and Commercial Banking, and Credit in both Domestic and International Banking. Before being assigned to Mexico, Mr. Cardinal served as Senior Vice-President of Canadian Commercial Credit from 1992 to 1996. He was named Deputy General Manager of Scotiabank Inverlat, Mexico in 1996 and President, Executive Committee of the Bank in 1998. Most recently, Mr. Cardinal was Chairman and CEO of Grupo Financiero Scotiabank Inverlat. A Certified General Accountant, he has served as the President of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Mexico and a Director of the Ronald McDonald House Children’s Charity.
