SNC-Lavalin is pleased to announce the appointment of Ian A. Bourne to its Board of Directors.
Mr. Bourne is Chairman of the Board of Ballard Power Systems Inc., a firm that designs and manufactures clean energy hydrogen fuel cells.
Mr. Bourne began his career in Finance at GE Canada in 1969. Based in GE offices in Canada, London and Paris, he held a number of senior positions including Vice-President Finance, GE Canada. Over the course of his career with GE, he was active in Canadian and European capital markets, the restructuring of GE and GE Capital in Canada, and improving business profitability and financial reporting. In 1992, Mr. Bourne moved to Canada Post Corporation to assume the position of Chief Financial Officer. In 1998, he was appointed Executive Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer of TransAlta Corporation; he was also President and Director of TransAlta Power LP from 1998 until his retirement in December 2006.
Mr. Bourne is a director of the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, Canadian Oil Sands Trust, Wajax Income Fund and the Canadian Public Accountability Board. In the not-for-profit sector, he sits on the boards of the Calgary Foundation and the Calgary chapter of the Institute of Corporate Directors; and he is a past director on the boards of the Glenbow Museum, the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra and the Calgary Chamber of Commerce.
