Denis Désautels, Chair of the Accounting Standards Oversight Council (AcSOC), is pleased to announce the appointment of Nigel Bellchamber as Chair, Public Sector Accounting Board (PSAB).
Mr. Bellchamber is the owner of N.G. Bellchamber & Associates, consultants to local and provincial governments and municipal associations. He has held a number of municipal positions, including Commissioner of Finance and Chief Administrative Officer. A member of PSAB since 2007, he became the Vice-Chair in 2009.
The Public Sector Accounting Board establishes accounting standards for the public sector. PSAB was created to serve the public interest by setting standards and providing guidance for financial and other performance information reported by the public sector. www.psab-ccsp.ca
The Accounting Standards Oversight Council (AcSOC) is a volunteer body established by the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants that serves the public interest by overseeing and providing input on the activities of the Accounting Standards Board (AcSB) and the Public Sector Accounting Board (PSAB). Reporting to the public and made up of representatives that include regulators, investors and other users, preparers and auditors of financial reports, AcSOC brings a broad perspective to complex issues facing standard setters in both the private and public sector.
