Pierre Duhaime, President and CEO of SNC-Lavalin Group Inc., is pleased to announce the appointment of Feroz Ashraf to the position of Executive Vice-President and member of the Office of the President, effective May 7, 2009. Feroz Ashraf assumes responsibility for SNC-Lavalinís mining & metallurgy, sulphuric acid and North American biopharmaceutical operations, as well as for its industrial operations in Quebec. In addition, he has geographical responsibilities for the Companyís operations in Australia, Brazil, Chile, Indonesia, Peru, Romania and South Africa.
Since joining SNC-Lavalin in 1979, Mr. Ashraf has held increasingly senior positions in process technology development, sales and marketing, business unit management, and strategic planning and acquisitions. In 2004, he was named Senior Vice-President, Commercial and Strategic Development, Global Mining & Metallurgy. He has since been responsible for the overall growth in this sector both domestically and internationally, and has contributed to six acquisitions in Ontario, the north-eastern US, Romania, Brazil and Chile.
He holds a Masters of Engineering (Chem. Eng) as well as a Diploma in Applied Management, both from McGill University in Montreal, Canada.
He is a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Quebec and of the Professional Engineers of Ontario.
