The Board of Directors of the Canadian Electricity Association (CEA) is pleased to announce the election of Mr. Philip G. Hughes as Vice-Chairman of the Association.

Mr. Hughes is President and Chief Executive Officer of Newfoundland Power. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Energy Council of Canada, Maritime Electric, Fortis Trust, Newfoundland Power and the St. John's Board of Trade.

Mr. Hughes is a Chartered Accountant and is a member of the Institutes of Chartered Accountants of Alberta and Newfoundland. In addition, he is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales.

Founded in 1891, CEA is the national forum and voice of the evolving electricity business in Canada and has offices in Montreal and Ottawa. Members of the Association produce 95 per cent of Canada's electricity, manage assets of more than $150 billion and employ 85,000 Canadians.
