Heenan Blaikie is pleased to announce that Pierre Marc Johnson has joined the organization as counsel.

After having completed studies in medicine and in law, Mr. Johnson was called to the Quebec Bar in 1971. He held various portfolios in the Quebec Government as Minister of Labour and Manpower, Financial Institutions, Immigration, Social Affairs, Justice and Attorney General as well as that of Minister of Canadian Intergovernmental Affairs. He also held the office of Premier of Quebec.

Mr. Johnson teaches at the McGill University Law School. Since 1988, he has participated in various international fora and negotiations dealing with environmental and economic development. He is the author of "The Environment and NAFTA, Understanding and Implementing the New Continental Law" recently published by Island Press of Washington, D.C.

Mr. Johnson is a member of the Board of Directors of various corporations, including SNC Lavalin, Unimédia, Innovitech and EETINA.

Heenan Blaikie is one of the fastest growing law firms in Canada. It currently has offices in Montreal, Trois-Rivières, Toronto, Vancouver and Beverly Hills.
