Gary first worked in an election when he was 10-years-old, helping his father put up lawn signs for their local Conservative candidate. Twenty-seven years later he is still on the campaign trail.
But Gary is no stranger to the national stage. Three years after graduating from Sheridan College, (Applied Arts) in Oakville, ON., Gary created his own entertainment marketing company, Gem Entertainment, and masterminded the ‘Great Canadian Karoke Challenge,’ a country-wide event that benefited Easter Seals and CANFAR, (Canadian Foundation for AIDS Research). Gary was featured on W5 and nationally syndicated talk shows.
Travelling across Canada to promote the event, he visited Vancouver, fell under the spell of its natural beauty, and vowed to move to the city when the “Challenge” wrapped. Gary now makes his home in Vancouver’s West End, (the highest urban density neighbourhood in the nation) to be near the ocean and beach he loves.
Gary is an active and committed community volunteer, working with the Coast Foundation for Mental Health and A Loving Spoonful. He has also served as a director of the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada Association in the riding for 3 years.
Always an outstanding student, he held leadership positions in student government and earned scholarships in recognition of his academic and community building efforts. As a high school senior Gary was chosen to join an elite, international youth group, ‘Up With People’, that travelled throughout the world promoting cross-cultural understanding and international friendship.
Recruited to his first management position at age 21, Gary works fulltime in the hospitality industry and provides entrepreneurial, promotional and communications counsel to both public and private sector organizations. An active runner, Gary may be seen frequently on the Stanley Park seawall, jogging with his dog Hercules.
