As a career fire inspector and investigator with the Surrey Fire Department for more than a decade, Dan Sheel has been on the front lines in the battle for safer streets and in helping Surrey’s citizens in times of crisis. He has also been a community activist and is a firm believer in bringing people together to deal with local issues.
As a member of Parliament, Mr. Sheel plans to lobby the Paul Martin government to put renewed resources into cities and communities for better crime prevention, transportation and community development.
In his role as a City of Surrey fire inspector and investigator, Mr. Sheel has worked directly with community leaders through fire prevention information, fire investigations and safety inspections. He has won a City of Surrey employee award for his dedication and hard work.
Mr. Sheel is a member of the Surrey Firefighters Charitable Foundation and has served as an evaluator of the Justice Institute’s Firefighting Academy. He has often been called into the community to talk about fire prevention and the importance of community action in loss prevention.
Dan has worked in the city of Surrey for the past 13 years. Together with his wife, Lisa, they are raising their two children and are active in their children’s school and the community.
