A member of the Green Party since 1983, Scott Leyland was born and raised in the Trail area, now living in Rossland. In 1974 he graduated as a physiotherapist and occupational therapist from the University of British Columbia. Married since 1975, Scott has 2 sons and 2 grandchildren.
He treats patients and is a Health Service Area manager (directing reorganization and development of rehabilitation services for his health region) and Chair of the Neurosciences Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. He has been instrumental in many community projects including Trail's ALPHA House, Roseberry Parklands, and the Slocan Camp for Wheels.
Why is Scott running? In his own words:
"I want to make a difference. I will work to achieve: proportional representation, improved sustainability of rural life, and practical ways to reduce environmental destruction and to make the Canada Health Act work."
