Darrel Stinson is the Conservative Party of Canada (CPC) candidate in the British Columbia riding of North Okanagan Shuswap.
First elected to Parliament in 1993, his life-long interest has been to the mining industry, ranging from prospecting in the BC mountains to developing gold claims in Northern Ontario and the U.S.
Darrel has been married to Cecily for more than 30 years. Together they operated a general store in Armstrong as well as being partners in a café and gas station at Falkland.
They live in rural Spallumcheen.
In the House of Commons Darrel has concentrated in the areas of the Canada/US softwood lumber deal, small business, forestry and mining. His other special interests include Aboriginal affairs as well as prisons and parole.
He was among the few MPs to actually visit the Nisga’a chiefs and territory before that treaty was signed.
