· Earned an Associate Arts Diploma from Douglas College and a Provincial Instructor’s Diploma in Adult Education from Vancouver Community College

· As a small businesspersion in New Westminster, provides on-going support for non-profit and community groups to deal with government regulations and funding

· Spearheaded projects for the 2010 Olympic Games to ensure workers and volunteers are treated fairly and that all workers receive a fair wage

· Member of the New View Society which provides housing and support for seniors and persons with disabilities

· Director for the New Westminster Downtown Residents Association helping residents and businesses of the area work together to establish a livable and caring community

· Served in a number of positions between 1992 and 2001 in the NDP government in British Columbia, including Constituency Assistant, Executive Assistant and Ministerial Assistant

· Resides in New Westminster with his partner, Sharon Kurtz, and their three children.
