Born and raised in Montreal, Ross Priest moved to Whitehorse in 1969 where he worked in the construction industry for eighteen years. In 1987, he and his wife Susan moved their young family to Cranbrook BC, where he became an active partner in a real estate agency until 1999.
Mr. Priest has a strong sense of community and public service. He has been involved in a wide array of community organizations. He is an outdoor enthusiast who cares deeply about quality of life issues and environmental responsibility.
In 1999, he was elected Mayor of Cranbrook where he is currently serving his second term. He is a Director of the Regional District of East Kootenay and is chair of the RDEK Airport Expansion Committee.
Mr. Priest wants to strengthen partnerships between all levels of government, First Nations and the private sector for the betterment of all residents in the Kootenay— Columbia riding.
As the Member of Parliament for Kootenay Columbia, Mr. Priest will be committed to developing living wage jobs within the riding, stabilizing funding for healthcare and education, and enhancing the riding’s highways for economic growth and safety.
