Rob is the sitting MP for the Alberta riding of Yellowhead, Alberta.
Born and raised on a dairy farm outside of Whitecourt, Alberta, Rob was first elected a Member of Parliament in 2000 as a member of the Canadian Alliance.
He and his wife Brenda are third generation farmers for Merrifield Farms. When he was elected to Parliament son Chad assumed responsibility for the family tradition. Other son Scott recently completed his forestry degree and works in the industry in Edson, Alberta.
A strong community supporter over the past 20 years, Rob has been a board member and chair of the Whitecourt/Fox Creek Hospital. He also served as a member of the Aspen Regional Health Authority.
Rob’s work ethic, dedication and competency were recognized in the House of Commons. He has served as Vice-chair of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Health Care and was named by the party as its Senior Health Critic for the Official Opposition.
He previously served as Deputy Health Care Critic and appointed to the Party Leader’s Advisory Committee on Health Care.
Over the past four years Rob has demonstrated his commitment as the Yellowhead constituency’s elected representative while fulfilling his Parliamentary responsibilities.
