Since his first election in Edmonton-Strathcona in 1997, Rahim Jaffer has served in a variety of roles in Opposition, including Intergovernmental Affairs Critic, Environment Critic, Interim Deputy Leader and now, Senior Critic: National Revenue. In this role, Rahim has played a major role in exposing the truth of the Liberal advertising and sponsorship scandal.
Rahim has been a small business owner in the Old Strathcona area for many years. He understands the demands, pressures and responsibilities of operating a business. This experience has reinforced his demands for lower taxes, a balanced budget and less government intrusion.
At the University of Ottawa, Rahim Jaffer completed Bachelor of Social Sciences degrees in Political Science and Economics, both in French. With this background, Rahim has been instrumental in building Conservative Party relationships in Quebec.
