Neil Mather represents Canada’s “Next Generation” – rallying behind Prime Minister Paul Martin and his progressive vision for the country.
A confident and energetic candidate, Mr. Mather grew up in the riding and attended schools in the area. He has the background and experience to provide Edmonton-Spruce Grove with a fresh strong voice in Ottawa a member of Parliament.
Mr. Mather was the top political science student in his graduating year at the University of Alberta where he received awards recognizing his leadership and community involvement. He went on to earn a law degree from the London School of Economics.
After completing his education in England, he moved to New York City and worked in the field of international banking for Merrill Lynch. After experiencing first-hand the dramatic events that occurred in Lower Manhattan on 9/11, Mr. Mather felt compelled to return to Canada in order to engage himself in the political process and make a difference.
He then relocated to Ottawa and took up a research position with a government relations firm where he gained tremendous insight into the federal government’s decision- and policy-making process.
Armed with this wealth of experience and committed to representing his community in the House of Commons, Mr. Mather is back in his hometown and is very honoured to be the Liberal candidate for Edmonton-Spruce Grove.
