Rona Ambrose was chosen as the Conservative Candidate for
Edmonton-Spruce Grove on March 13, in the most contested nomination race across Canada for the Conservative Party. Rona is committed to principled, democratic, and accountable government that delivers the high-quality services Canadians deserve.
Rona's extensive policy background provides her with the knowledge and ability she needs to advocate on behalf of the citizens of Edmonton-Spruce Grove.
Rona is currently on leave to campaign from her position as a Senior Intergovernmental Analyst with the Government of Alberta, where she specializes in constitutional and fiscal issues. Rona's roles include cross-government policy development and the analysis of emerging policy trends. Rona also provides strategic advice on intergovernmental initiatives advanced by the Alberta government.
Rona has also worked as a consultant for First Past the Post Strategic Communications, and more recently, operated her own public policy consulting business.
Her policy interests reflect her Masters degree in political science, which she earned at the University of Alberta, studying with Professor Allan Tupper. Rona's research and work focus on emerging policy issues related to privacy legislation, electronic documents legislation, electronic
government, information and telecommunications delivery options and their impact on citizenship, constitutional and jurisdictional matters.
Rona has been involved in her community as a volunteer with many organizations, most notably WinHouse -- the Edmonton Women's Shelter, for which she received an outstanding volunteer award for her years of involvement.
Rona was born in Alberta, and grew up both overseas and in Parkland County, south of Stony Plain. Her time overseas has rewarded her with the ability to speak several languages, including Spanish, Portuguese and intermediate French.
Rona Ambrose is 35 years old, and has been married to her husband Bruce for 10 years. They are both very active in their community through volunteer work, clubs and associations and believe in giving back to the community they love and are proud to call home. In her spare time, Rona enjoys reading, golf, and spending time with friends and family.
