John Bethel is proud to call Edmonton East home. He relates on a personal level to its communities and organizations and feels strongly that Edmonton Eastís MP should have strong roots in the riding.

He has volunteered with the Boyle Street Co-op and with Junior Achievement at Northeast Edmonton schools, and has a close relationships with the riding's diverse multicultural communities.

Mr. Bethel has a distinguished and long history with the Liberal Party of Canada. He is the immediate past-Vice President of the Liberal Party of Canada in Alberta. He has served in countless executive positions with the Party, and has won national and provincial volunteer awards for his involvement.

Most recently, he was awarded this yearís Liberal of the Year Award by the Alberta wing of the Liberal Party of Canada. Throughout his involvement with the Liberal Party, he has fought to make the party more responsive and connected to its members and the people of Alberta.

Mr. Bethel has a bachelor's degree from the University of Toronto, and an M.B.A. from the University of Alberta. Always interested in facilitating change and growth in organizations, he made an impact as a student while attending the University of Alberta

He served as President of the M.B.A. Students' Association, and participated in a steering committee charged with developing a first of its kind MBA program geared towards the energy industry in Alberta.
