Michael Garfinkle was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, in 1958, He moved with his family to Edmonton in 1966, where his father, Harry, was a professor of Education Policy at the University of Alberta for over twenty years. Following in the academic footsteps of his father, Michael studied Political Science, Sociology of Canada, and History and Philosophy of Science at McGill University in Montreal. He obtained his B.A. from the Univ. of Alberta in 1992, where he also studied Ecology. Since then, Michael has worked as a musician, and performance coordinator among "other-abled" musicians. He has developed a strong understanding of issues important to those labelled "mentally disabled", and seeks your vote to bring those issues to the Canadian Parliament. Michael has held a variety of jobs, including organic potato farmer in the Leduc area, laundry labourer at the U. of A. Hospital, construction worker, lawn and building maintenance person, and driver and snow remover for seniors. He served as Membership Secretary of the Green Party of Canada in Alberta, from 2000 to 2002, and supports the dynamic Green vision for Canada.
