Adam Campbell has deep rural roots. He was the third generation of his family to farm in the Scottish Highlands. After high school Mr. Campbell completed his education at Agricultural College in Aberdeen, Scotland.
Returning to the family farm, he expanded the business from traditional livestock and grains to growing and marketing seed potatoes and vegetables.
In 1996, with his family, he finally realized his long-time ambition to farm in Western Canada, and chose to settle in Alberta near the town of Camrose. For a period of time, he and his wife owned and operated a successful motel, but chose to return to full-time farming and concentrate on the upbringing of their two sons.
For the past few years Mr. Campbell has been involved in agricultural politics with special interest in rural development and the sustainability of family farming. This led to a more general interest in Canadian politics and his strong commitment to the Liberal Party.
