Don Kuhl graduated from the University of Manitoba School of Agriculture in 1969 and later became a partner in the Southern Manitoba Potato Company. When his father Henry H. Kuhl retired in 1978, Don Kuhl established his own farm corporation. He retired from farming in 2000.
He has served on numerous farm organizations. He was an executive member of the Manitoba Pulse Growers Association from 1990 - 1999 and president for five years. He was a vice-chairman of the Western Canadian Pulse Growers Association.
He was on the Special Crops Advisory Committee for the Canadian Grains Commission, and has been an executive member of the Manitoba Sugar Beet Growers Association and the Manitoba Corn Growers Association.
Mr. Kuhl has always been, and still is, very active in his community. He has been an executive member on numerous boards including the Winkler Flyers Junior Hockey Club, the Winkler Recreation Commission, and the Lower Red River Valley Water Commission.
He is a charter member and past president of the Winkler Lions Club and has served on the Garden Valley School Division Board. He was also on the City of Winkler Council from 1983 - 1998 serving as Deputy Mayor for three years.
He has been married to his wife Liz for 36 years. They live in Winkler, Manitoba and enjoy golfing, curling and camping and spending time with their children and grandchildren.
