· A nutritionist and activist in the labour movement

· Born in Trinidad and Tobago; came to Canada in 1989, via Guyana and Jamaica where she studied at the University of the West Indies and worked for the World Health Organization

· While completing her doctorate at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education/University of Toronto, introduced to labour activism

· Elected Chief Steward and President of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 3907 and Vice-President/Acting President of the OISE/UT Graduate Students' Association 1995-1997

· Appointed the sole student member on the OISE/UT Advisory Board and on the OISE/UT Education and Employment Equity Committee

· Elected a member of CUPE Ontario's Human Rights Committee in 1996 and appointed by then President, Judy Darcy, a member of CUPE National Committee on International Solidarity

· Currently a member of the United Steel Workers of America Local 1998 representing staff at the University of Toronto and serves as an instructor, activist and steward in the Faculty of Medicine

· Edits the monthly newsletter of the Department of Nutritional Sciences of the University of Toronto

· Member of the Board of Directors of Sherbourne Health Centre

· Active in the community and her church; serves as a lector, Eucharistic minister, member of several ad hoc committees at Our Lady Of Lourdes Church.
