Josh Cooper is a successful businessman and long-time advocate for Thornhill. He is a graduate of York University and the Post-Graduate International Business program at Seneca College. Josh is the founder, owner and operator of Par Golf Camps; a business he grew in twelve years to become the largest provider of golf instruction of its kind. Josh received national acclaim in 2002 when Profit Magazine recognized Par Golf Camps as one of the Fastest Growing Companies in Canada.
Josh has taken a leadership role in many local organizations including the Thornhill Nursery School and the City of Vaughan Hockey Association. Josh has been a guest speaker at York University and has spoken at many schools in Toronto and York Region.
Using his many personal and organizational skills, Josh has helped raise tens of thousands of dollars for many local charities including: UJA Federation, B'nai Brith, Reena Foundation, Friends of Simon Weisenthal Centre and Honest Reporting Canada. In 2002 he established 'Bagels in the 905 Diaspora', a Thornhill Speakers Group which regularly brings high-profile speakers to the community. His passion for getting others involved in their community led to his co-chairing the UJA Washington Fly In last year that saw 150 community leaders travel to Washington.
Over the past holiday season, Josh and his family initiated the 'Drive for Dreidels', a toy drive that raised over 4,000 toys so underprivileged children could receive Chanukah and Christmas gifts. Most recently, Josh is the founder and Chair of the UJA Federation/United Talmud Torahs Library Fund. Over $75,000.00 has been raised to help rebuild the library in Montreal after it became the victim of a hate crime.
Josh Cooper's entry into the political arena is a natural extension of his commitment and desire to give back to our community. His business experience, work ethic and knowledge of the issues give him the excellent credentials necessary to become Thornhill's next MP.
