Paul DeVillers is an energetic representative of the people of Simcoe North. He is highly regarded for his moderate and balanced viewpoints, and for the respect he has for people of all walks of life.
Mr. DeVillers is a proven parliamentarian. He served as Canada’s Sport and Physical Activity Minister. He was elected Chair of the National Liberal Caucus. He was Parliamentary Secretary to Canada’s Unity Minister. He also served as Chair of the Justice Committee.
He has also done a lot of important work in the service of Canadians on the Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Committee, the Scrutiny of Regulations Committee, the Environment Committee, the Corrections and Conditional Release Act Sub-Committee, and the Organized Crime Sub-Committee.
He was born in Penetanguishene and has lived in Simcoe North for most of his life. He is well suited to represent this diverse and complex riding that contains dozens of villages and hamlets, hundreds of family farms, French- and English-speaking people, two First Nations, a large Métis population, and people of many creeds and backgrounds.
