Backhurst, Tony

Ontario, Scarborough - Rouge River, Conservative Party of Canada

Tony Backhurst is the Conservative Party of Canada (CPC) candidate in the Ontario riding of Scarborough-Rouge River.

An immigrant from London, England, he is committed to community betterment and has served the people of Ontario for over 10 years in law enforcement as a member of the Ontario Provincial Police.

Serving as a Senior Constable and Instructor, he worked for four years in a posting at the Wabaseemoong First Nations Territory in northwest Ontario.

During this posting he was the liaison to the Chief in Council in order to fully address problems within the territory.

Tony has taught as a part-time professor at Humber College, and is an avid soccer player and a former professional.

In addition, he is the founder of COPS United, a combined Ontario Police Services soccer team that won the 2003 North American Police Soccer Tournament.
