Cheryl Gallant is the sitting MP for the riding of Renfew-Nipissing-Pembroke, Ontario, for the Conservative Party of Canada (CPC).
She was elected in the 2000 federal campaign, one of two Canadian Alliance MPs from Ontario.
Before entering politics, Cheryl was the Chief Administrative Director in a small family-owned business/professional practice with her spouse Jamie. She is the active parent of four daughters ranging in age from 10 to 16 years.
Active in the community, she has served as the Chair of the City of Pembroke Downtown Development Commission and as a member of the Economic Advisory Committee for the city.
Cheryl was raised and educated in Blenheim in southwest Ontario, graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of western Ontario and has done post-grad work in biochemistry, toxicology, pharmacology and environmental chemistry.
Prior to relocating to Pembroke, Cheryl was a group insurance executive with a major Canadian life insurance company.
In Parliament, she has served as CPC Critic for Science, Research and Development, was a member of the Commons Standing Committee on National Defence and Veteranís Affairs, and the Standing Committee on Industry.
