Born and educated in Stratford, Brian Innes is involved with a wide range of community organizations, including the Optimist Club of Downie, 4th Battalion Stratford Garrison Mess, Perth County Federation of Agriculture. He is also a member of the Stratford Festival of Canada. Mr. Innes has served on the boards of Quadro Communication Cooperative Incorporated and WRED (Women in Rural Economic Development).
Mr. Innes’ work experience is extensive in both the private and public sector. He has worked for several federal Liberal cabinet ministers, from 1978 to 1984 and for several provincial Liberal cabinet ministers, from 1985 to 1989.
He has international experience as well, having attended the University of Strasbourg, France and having worked as a dairy farm administrator in Homs, Libya. Mr. Innes has taught for several years at Fanshawe College, London and has recently lectured in the Health Science’s faculty at the University of Western Ontario.
Mr. Innes has volunteered at the federal and provincial riding level since 1968. He was the Liberal candidate in the 2003 federal by-election in Perth-Middlesex. Local issues for Perth-Wellington include agriculture, business growth and expansion, and continued development of culture and the arts in the community.
Mr. Innes currently lives and works on the family farm in Perth South which he co-owns with his wife Marilyn and daughters Brianna and Emily.
