John Ford is a consultant, owner of a small green business, and an avid cyclist. John grew up in Toronto and moved to Ottawa twenty-four years ago after a brief stop in Waterloo to continue his education.
With a degree in electrical engineering, he has provided information technology services for such companies as IBM, Bell Canada, and Nortel. He is currently running an energy audit business to promote
household electrical efficiency.
John has a long history of community involvement and volunteer commitment. From many high school clubs and committees including student council, to university student council, to various community groups and clubs in Ottawa. He has served on the board of directors for
the Ottawa Bicycle Club.
Cycling village to village in many developing countries around the world helped increase his awareness of world sustainability and community issues.
During the 2003 Ontario provincial election he was campaign manager for Green candidate David Chernushenko in Ottawa South where the number of Green votes increased to 241% of the 1999 result.
