Debbie Zimmerman is currently the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Grape Growers of Ontario. In addition to her role as CEO, she holds public office as Regional Councillor for the Region of Niagara.
At the provincial level, Ms. Zimmerman was appointed by the Province of Ontario to the Niagara Escarpment Commission in 1994 and served until 1997.
In 1998, Ms. Zimmerman was recipient of the “Niagara Award” which was presented by Niagara College in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the community.
She was as a member of the Team Canada 2001 Trade Mission to China and led the 2002 Niagara Business Trade Mission to Ireland. She is a member of the Niagara Economic and Tourism Corporation, and a member of the Niagara Regional Housing Board.
In 2001, she received the Niagara College Board of Governors Award for her dedicated efforts in promoting Niagara College and its mission. In addition, she received the Woman of Distinction Award presented by the YMCA.
She was named Honourary Chair of the Niagara’s Women’s Place 25th Anniversary Gala Event in 2002, and is a founding member of the Niagara Community Foundation.
In January 2004, she was the recipient of the “Celebration of Women in Niagara” award given by the Welland/Pelham Women’s Liberal Association.
Ms. Zimmerman is a graduate of the Department of Journalism at Niagara College. She resides in Grimsby with her family.
