∑ Returned to London, first as a classroom teacher and then as a teacher-librarian

∑ In the evenings and summer holidays, attended McMaster University and the University of Western Ontario, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Psychology

∑ Was a volunteer teacher in India with Canadian University Services Overseas

∑ Completed a Masterís degree in Sociology

∑ Currently on the faculty of Fanshawe College

∑ Worked as an executive assistant in collective bargaining for the Federation of Women Teachersí Associations of Ontario

∑ A delegate to the London and District Labour Council

∑ Has served on the London Social Planning Council, chaired the London Housing Authority, participated in fundraising for the London Humane Society and canvassed for the Ontario Health Coalition

∑ Recipient of a Canada 125 medal in recognition of her activism in housing

∑ Recently contributed her skills and labour to Margaretís Haven, which provides non-profit apartment housing for women with psychiatric difficulties

∑ Currently, serves on an alternative measures group, the Byron Justice Circle, through the St. Leonardís Society, and continues to recruit people to join her at Peace Marches in London

∑ Lives with her husband, Ted Barber, in the house they bought in Byron Village more than 30 years ago.
