Myers, Lynn

Ontario, Kitchener - Conestoga, Liberal Party of Canada

A teacher by profession, Lynn Myers has had an extensive career in local politics in Waterloo Region from 1978 to 1997 serving most notably as the Mayor of Wilmot Township, as a member of Council of the Region of Waterloo, as the Chair of the Kitchener-Wilmot Hydro Commission, and as the Chair of the Waterloo Regional Police.

First elected to Parliament in 1997, Mr. Myers has worked tirelessly to ensure that the opinions of his constituents are heard in Ottawa. In addition to his duties as Mr. Myers served as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Solicitor General, the Chair of the Standing Committee on Health, the Caucus Chair of the Health Priorities Committee, the Chair of the Caucus Committee Working to Prevent Youth Smoking, the Chair of the Private Members Business Standing Committee, and the Vice-Chair of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts, and Chair of the Liberal Dairy Caucus.

Mr. Myers believes that Canadians have made great sacrifices in the past number of years to achieve the goal of fiscal order and a balanced budget in Canada. He believes that through hard work, Canadians will achieve similar success in restoring public confidence in our national health care system, in providing employment for all Canadians, in preserving, protecting, and enhancing our environment, in restoring the confidence of Canadians in our judicial system, in helping our senior citizens, and in providing the best education possible for our young people.
