Frank Luellau was born in Germany, coming to Canada in 1951 at the age of 13. He resided first in Manitoba, followed by British Columbia and then Alberta. He has been a resident of Ontario since 1981. His father was a building contractor and a poultry farmer.
Frank studied at Prairie Bible Institute in Alberta, after which he met and married Esther (nee Bredin) in 1958. Aiming to pursue a career in Bible translation, he attended New Tribes Institute in California and Wisconsin, and the Summer Institute of Linguistics at the University of Oklahoma. After his return to Canada he pursued a career in business.
Frankís management experience was earned during 17 years of progressive responsibility with a feed and seed company in Western Canada, as branch manager and operations manager. In 1974 Frank turned to the charities sector, starting with The Gideons as their Western Field Representative, and progressing to Development Manager and Editor.
In 1983 Frank was recruited as the first employee of the Canadian Council of Christian Charities (CCCC), a national organization serving constituent members (churches and other Christian charities) by providing information and training on many technical, operational and legal matters, and by administering the Seal for Financial Accountability. Under his leadership as Executive Director the organization grew to 13 employees serving a membership of over 2,500 organizations.
Frank has been in fulltime Christian work since 1974. In addition to his vocation, he has supported numerous other ministries, including Intervarsity Christian Fellowship, Christian Businessmenís Committee of Canada, the Gideons International in Canada, and several Christian camping associations. Kitchener Mennonite Brethren Church has been his home church since 1994. He has been actively involved, in teaching and administration in various capacities, including: preacher, deacon, elder, and serving on various committees. Frank has been a frequent speaker in churches and conference settings, and, in conjunction with his work with CCCC, has travelled extensively throughout Canada as well as in the USA and Europe. He and Esther have resided in Elmira, Ontario since 1981.
