A respected leader with a deep-rooted commitment to the citizens of Kitchener, Karen Redman is again carrying the Liberal banner for Kitchener Centre in the upcoming federal election.
Following terms on municipal council and school board, Ms. Redman was elected as the Member of Parliament for Kitchener Centre in 1997 and again in 2000. She chairs the Liberal Caucus committee on Sustainable Development and serves on the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade.
As part of her parliamentary responsibilities, Ms. Redman has served as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of the Environment. She has also been a member of several committees including Finance, Health, Human Resources Development, Environment, Library of Parliament and the Legislative Committee on Clarity. She served as a member of the Prime Ministerís Task Force on Women Entrepreneurs and also on the Prime Ministerís Task Force on Seniors.
As well as her commitments as a member of Parliament, Ms. Redman is an Elder at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, a member of the Rotary Club of Kitchener and a member of the Kitchener Waterloo Branch of the Canadian Federation of University Women.
She and her husband Warren are lifelong residents of Kitchener Centre. They have four children: Abby, Laura, Joe and Jim.
