"Travelling the world and coming to know people both in my role as a speaker and an ordinary citizen, I have seen first-hand the devastated lives and degradation of the planet. We aren't paying attention to what's important. We focus on economic growth, liberally spending our future. We are plundering our raw materials, and are on a speedy path toward bankruptcy. As we rush to stuff our pockets full, our spirits become empty. We long for lives of meaning."
Born in Canada, she grew up in Jamaica where resources were scarce and she learned to take nothing for granted. She was recruited to the World Bank in Washington DC, where she was stunned at the waste she encountered. On the job, she observed first-hand the political manipulation being played out at the world level.
Active in the community, Janina serves on the Executive of the Green Party of Kingston and the Islands, and is a former member of the Citizens' Advisory Committee of the Collins Bay Institution. She has worked in the corporate world, government and not-for-profit.
As the first female federal candidate for the Kingston Greens, she brings a balanced, inclusive and sustainable approach to our country's leadership.
