Fred Eisenberger immigrated to Hamilton, Ontario, from Amsterdam, with his family in 1960, and has resided most of his life in Hamilton East.
Fred represented Ward 5 on Hamilton City Council for nine years, and served in all of the major portfolios in the City and former Region of Hamilton-Wentworth. He understands not only the issues, but the people involved.
Some of his accomplishments include:
o The negotiation of the waterfront portion of the CN lands from Bayfront Park to the Highlevel Bridge and the overseeing of the completion of the trail and bridge connecting Bayfront Park by a walking trail to Cootes Paradise
o A new waterfront trail along Lake Ontario and the ownership of $3.2 million dollars of new, mixed0use property through a $1 million dollar investment on Beach Boulevard-which set in place the plan to create a new waterfront trail
o The establishment of the Hamilton Utility Corporation, a business wholly owned by Hamilton taxpayers
o The development of Hamilton environmental showcase “Eco-House”, in association with Green Venture, Hamilton Hydro and the City of Hamilton
o The establishment of City Council’s “Zero Tolerance” policy at all of the City’s sports facilities
Most recently, Fred served as Chair of the Hamilton Port Authority, and through his vision, leadership and inherent sense of collaboration and shared interests, he has seen HPA through it first-ever strategic plan and operational review.
His experience working with all levels of government has earned him the respect of all elected members from all parties at all levels, and this has helped him establish effective working relationships.
