Shel Goldstein was raised in Eglinton-Lawrence, educated at Forest Hill Collegiate, McGill and York Universities. Shel has worked as a professional actress in film, TV, theatre, commercials for 25 years.
Shel has participated as a community activist through The Council of Canadians, ACTRA, Sierra Legal Defence, David Suzuki Foundation, and as a demonstrator for Fair Trade, Sustainablity, and Global Justice in Quebec City, Toronto, Ottawa, Temagami, Washington, and Miami.
In the 1993 federal election Shel ran for the National Party (Willowdale) to enable Mel Hurtig's presence in the televised Leaders' Debate to warn Canadians of the dangers of NAFTA and "Free Trade". During that campaign Shel Goldstein was so impressed with the Green Party's vision that she has ever since been a Green supporter.
