As a life-long resident of Pickering and Ajax, Mark Holland is deeply passionate about his community and country. He is dedicated to public service and has a proven track record of standing up for his constituents and delivering results.
Mr. Holland currently serves west Durham as a Councillor with the Region of Durham and the City of Pickering. He led the redevelopment of Pickering’s waterfront, spearheaded the Durham Region Strategic Plan and is an outspoken advocate for environmental issues – all while keeping Pickering’s taxes the lowest in Durham Region.
Currently the city’s Acting Mayor, Mr. Holland is also a member of the Durham Region Police Services Board, Veridian Corporation’s Board of Directors, the Durham West Arts Centre’s Board of Directors, and the Canadian Association of Nuclear Host Communities. He is also the Chair of Pickering’s Winterfest and Chair of the Waterfront Coordinating Committee.
Mr. Holland has worked for all four levels of government including the Provincial Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration and as a Special Assistant to M.P. Dan McTeague. He has been an Investment Advisor for RBC Dominion Securities and Financial Advisor for CIBC in Ajax.
A graduate of the University of Toronto in political science and history, Mr. Holland has also completed a wide array of courses from the Canadian Securities Institute.
He lives with his wife Aerlyn and their three children in Pickering. He is an avid reader and loves adventure racing, technology and spending time with his family.
