Shortly after arriving in Blainville in 1982, Pierre Gingras became involved with the Optimist Club before serving for ten years as a school trustee. He was elected for the first time as a municipal councillor in 1999. In 1991, he founded the Blainville Parti de l’action civique (civic action party) and went on to win the 1993, 1997, and 2001 elections. His record shows that since the time he became mayor, there has been no increase in taxes in Blainville.
For three years, Mr. Gingras chaired the regional council for the development of the Laurentides. In 2002, he was appointed board member and treasurer of the UMQ. He was also elected as a trustee representing the northern area of the metropolitan municipalities caucus. He is president of Carrefour action municipale et famille and also serves as president of the North American region of the World Organization of Families.
Mr. Gingras is able to bring people together and is motivated by ideals of equity, integrity and honesty.
